It's OK I'll Remember That...
« on: Friday 03 September 21 14:28 BST (UK) »
No, no, I won't  ::)
At some point I've found a death date for Isaac SCALES and made a note of it alongside the GRO reference.
Now, the GRO index doesn't show me his date of death in 1932 so where did I get the specific date from ???
Who knows? I don't. No doubt I told myself I'd remember and didn't need to write it down haha silly silly me.
I've now ordered the cert as a pdf to see if my date is magically correct and to see who registered the event (please be Stanley).
Bottom line - if you ever catch yourself saying "it's OK I'll remember that" you probably won't - or you might - until you actually need to recall the details  ;)
write it down, even if it's "I heard from the lady 2 streets over" or "I read it on another tree on Anc".

Yes, that's the date I have :)
But I have no idea where I got the from in the first place.
Going to look for Bury Free Press (just in case they have any other mentions of these elusive ancestors) - thank you :)

Whenever I came up against brick walls I would make notes about where I had searched etc. then I would add those notes to the pile of similar ones. The only problem was that when I went through them some time later the notes didn't make sense because I wasn't in the same frame of mind I was when I made them. My notes now are more like essays but at least they make sense.
