So, Maddys52,
Then 1898 looks as far as one can take the history of The Ship.  There are of course many, many pubs and inns that will have closed their doors for the last time because of the effect of Covid in the last two years in the U.K.  A great loss.
Many thanks for continuing to dig...
Keith

Local papers are so desperate for stories nowadays that they'd probably run an item if you contacted them?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
