Hi Sal

Did you get this translated?  If not, let me know and I can probably do it for you (I think I can read most of it, and know French quite well).

Hi MarieC

Thanks for your offer to translate for me , would be very grateful if you can.

The only french i know is numbers and months, which i learnt at school a long time ago.

I also have my great grandfathers will, which is written in french i tried to translate it my self using a french to english dictionary but it didnt seem to make a lot of sense.

Thanks once again for your offer

Sal

Hi Sal,

Here is my translation:

Commune of Ploeuc (commune is an old word, probably you could translate it as town)

Birth certificate or extract

18 July 1871 at three o'clock in the morning was born at Neuf Fontaines (Nine Fountains)

Pelagie Francoise Rebindaine (should have a cedilla under the c in Francoise but I can't do that on the computer)

daughter of Julien Rebindaine

and of Jeanne Marie Geobichon (? hard to read surname)

living at Ploeuc, Nine Fountains Street

The town hall, 20 August 1939

Seems as though their house was called Neuf Fontaines and the street may have been named after it.

If you like, I'll have a go at your g-grandfather's will.  If you pm me, we can go from there.  I should be able to read the French OK; difficult handwriting might cause me a problem or two.

Hope this helps, and all the best,

Marie
