Dundee Courier 18th October 1848 (report on trial held on 14th Oct.)

Janet Kerr or Graham, Robina Kerr, and Peter
Melia, pled not guilty to having assaulted, in June last,
John William, in Session Street, Dundee, and with knock-
ing him down and taking from his person a purse containing
twenty-five shillings in silver, and a walking stick. They
were found guilty as libelled, and sentenced to seven years'
transportation.

N.B. it was a purse, not a handbag.

From your details, Dundee. This looks like a possible Graham/Kerr marriage in Dundee www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTV3-L2T

A possible for 1841 at Constitution Street, Dundee:

George Graham 25 Linen H L W b. Ireland
Janet Graham 20
Alex Graham 3
Sarah Graham 1

In trial papers, George Graham was referred to as a weaver.

Hi Guys and Thankyou,
Just trying to put some "meat on the bones" by adding the Parents of Robina and Janet to the tree,

A couple of other things I will share with you...one I have never seen before...
David Byrne was a convict his son became Burns...name change
Robina [Robinnie] was written as Cur...name change
and note below [free settlers of Norfolk UK to Tassie] Phoebe Easter Steward and daughter Fanny Amelie Steward [Easter]...well James Burns never married Phoebe, had 2 kids....has anyone seen this before where the Church people
instead of adding Bastard Kid or Illegitimate Kid of James Burns, they added instead Easter which was Phoebes Mums surname, never attached Easter to the Son James Steward...Phoebe went on and married Flemming 1881 have 2 more kids now my neighbours..

4/ David Byrne born 1826 Castledermott Kildare Ireland died 1894 Tas
                       married 1855 Brighton Tas
                       Robina Cur 1822-1869
                           had Issue
5/ James Burns  b. 1855.........................  note the name change
                               I
                            Phoebe Easter Steward 1858-1888
                            had Issue
6/ Fanny Amelie Steward [Easter] born 1875
                            6/ James Ernest Steward 1878-1952

Good Pickup Sue....however......as below it does show David Benn marring Robina Kerr....I think this is what they call a False-Positive...what you see is written, but its not true....appears David is from Yorkshire, couldnt find him as a convict or passenger into Australia, and if a soldier from the UK he couldnt marry Robina as she was not pardoned till 1853 [5 years of a 7 year term] below says married 1851
Have to confess you caught me off guard there...well done  Rick
