Thank you for finding the previous thread.  I am still no further forward, even after sending for the marriage certificate.

       As a matter of interest what would the bride or groom have to provide to the registrar as proof of identity?

I have had no more luck  than anyone else  in searching for you.

No proof of identity was required for a marriage, you were relied upon to tell the truth, so many people got away with giving false information. She may have been illegitimate and given a fictitious father and/or name.

You haven’t said who the witness were on the marriage certificate, is there any clue there?

Yes I have a Hugh R Lloyd and a Bessie Lloyd.  Will try their names on Ancestry see what I find, if anything.

Hugh and Bessie Lloyd, their witnesses lived at the same address as my great uncle cited on the marriage certificate.   
  They list a servant Susan Price single aged 18 on the 1901 census.  Perhaps she is Aritia, who knows.
