When they say 'your family tree' it's not your tree. It's just the way they refer to any tree that you have access to as a guest, contributor or editor.

Has your private  tree been changed?

Hi Gadget,

My tree has not been changed. My concerns are why I am now a guest on a tree that I have no connections with. Please see image.

Maybe Cathy Robinson has added you as a guest. She may have come across you as a DNA match or it may be just an error. In conspiracy vs “cock up” it is often just the latter.

Never submitted (or had test taken) of DNA. Obviously as you say 'a cock up'. Don't know how Cathy Robinson is but I will ignore anything that Ancestry pushes my way that is linked to her tree.

Humble apologies to one and all and to Cathy Robinson -- I don't have a family link to Cathy's family but her name started to 'ring bells' in my old head. Last December, Cathy posted a request on RootsChat concerning an ancestor that served in WW1. I remember trying to help via personal messages but unfortunately couldn't help her. To assist her, she gave me guest access to her online tree.

Once again, humble apologies to one and all and especially to Cathy if she happens to come across this thread.

Allan

You could send Cathy a message, here and/or on Ancestry, asking that you be removed as a guest. Or, you can go into your own account at Ancestry and under Site Preferences, go to Notification Settings and un-tick the box that says you want notifications when that tree is updated.
