Marriage of John Henniker and Anne Major in 1746
« on: Wednesday 15 September 21 11:09 BST (UK) »
I am mystified by records I have seen on FindMyPast and The Genealogist which say that this couple were married in St. Paul's Cathedral. I really need to see the entries to see the word "Cathedral" because I was under the impression that they were married at St. Paul's Shadwell. The alternative is a distinct possibility because Anne's father John Major lived within the City of London (Savage Gardens next to Trinity House) and it was customary for many marriages to take place in the bride's parish. Please could someone help me with this query. Many thanks.

Ancestry have the image - BUT, again it is a transcription - and again the images are said to be St Paul's Cathedral.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

It was St Paul’s cathedral

Page 153 if it doesn’t take you straight to it. (Don’t forget double dating so it’s in the 1747 entries)

Thank you very much for such prompt replies. I cannot get into the book from the link (Google Books always confuses me) but I'm happy that you have confirmed that it was St. Paul's Cathedral.
