I had a handful yesterday and 3 today.  They're mainly 11cMs or less and no or tiny trees. 3 matched with higher cM matches so I was able to colour code and make a note.

Add - just had a 45cM match but her tree is private and unlinked. Also, the matches are ones on my ?? list

I had more today, including a 109cM match. I've not had anything that high for ages. This one looks as if he  might connect to the illegit line so even more of these cousins coming through.

Ancestry is telling me that I've had 66 in the last fortnight.

109cM sounds interesting Gadget. Where can I access the total of matches as you have for the last fortnight ?

I don't use this very often but I looked to answer your query (#12)
All matches -  then  Groups- then  New matches  :)

67 now

I've just checked again and it's now 7 days not 14. I'm sure it used to be 14,

I've just checked and Ancestry tells me I've had 69. I've had a couple at 17cM but mostly below 12cM, not really anything of great interest other than a few more added to my mystery group of nearly 600 of 40cM or less who only match others within that group. A few match a paternal second cousin but otherwise none match anyone with an identifiable connection to my paternal line.

I suspect there's lot's of things that govern match frequency, Ancestry sale campaigns, present giving events like Christmas, etc. I think that in my case it may be connected to location. When researching my direct line I was amazed at how many of their close family members emigrated to the US in the second half of the 19thC/first half of the 20thC (including 5 of my grandfather's siblings) and as we know, a very large proportion of Ancestry users are US based. I have matches in virtually every US state!
