Hi,

I'm trying to pin down an exact date & place of birth for my Great-Grandmother, Bertha Lloyd. The 1891 census & her marriage certificate suggest she was born in 1883 & in Llandrindod to Ezekiel Lloyd & Mary (not sure of her mother's maiden name).  However, I'm struggling to pick anything up on a search on Ancestry.

Thanks, all of her birthplaces on the 1891, 1901 & 1911 censuses all seemed to be different but within the same sort of area from what I could see.  None of them had Crickhowell.

Bertha is recorded as being born Beaufort on the 1891 census. This parish comes under the registration district of Crickhowell.

Thanks, would you know why the place of birth would be different on the 1901 & 1911 censuses?

That is a question that many of us on rootschat ask!! Suffice to say in 1901 she is born Howey, 1911 born Llandridod Wells. These 2 places are approx 1.7 miles apart. I personally would not worry about the exact place of birth, but if it is really important for your research then her birth certificate will give you an exact location.

This looks to be the marriage of Bertha's parents, her father's name miss-spelt, and after Bertha's birth.

This is the death registration of Ezekiel in 1945 in Watford, Herts.

Ezekiel Lloyd d aged 85, registered Mar qtr 1943 Watford RD
Volume 3a Page 1542

Added 16.25pm Ezekiel was in actual fact living with his daughter Laura A LLoyd in 1939 in Watford at 51 Acme Street, Watford. His date of birth is also recorded on this 1939 register.
