also look into which sites will accept the results from other sites. Others on here might be more up to date on this, but at one time I don't think ancestry would let you import other sites' results. But familytreeDNA and gedmatch would.
If this is still true, you might want to start with one site and then upload the results to the others.

Thanks, oldohiohome.  You're right, which I gather is why others recommend Ancestry, so that Ancestry's results can be imported to other sites, since it can't be done the other way round.
