Burial look up - Walter Carlton Smith, Cheltenham
« on: Friday 01 October 21 23:08 BST (UK) »
Could someone look up the burial of my great grandfather, Walter Carlton Smith, who died at Cheltenham aged 90 in July 1932
He lived above Queen's Bakery for many years - I think this may have been in Gloucester Road.

With many thanks.  jkgla

Thank you so much, both ShaunT and Brentor boy
Walter was the gardener at Shurdington, and the list of family names is brilliant - he was illegitimate and I’m still trying to find his true father, but DNA hasn’t helped yet.
So many thanks!

So you havent matched DNA with any of John/Elizabeth Smiths children born post 1845 Marriage?
John married Elizabeth Carlton 13 Apr 1845

Walter as you know was bapt 30 Jun 1843 (birth 28 Jul 1842)

Elizabeth Ann Smith was born 08 Jul 1845 but not bapt until 22 Sep 1847 so that was a close one.

Apart from my own family line, descended from John Smith (?) and Elizabeth Carlton's son, Walter, via his daughter, Edth, I cannot find any other direct descendents - the family seem to have fizzled out.
I have a very good (164cM) match with someone on MyHeritage from Swaffham, clearly the same line but I suspect further back - descended from a different John Smith of Swaffham (too many none-matching detals to be the same person).
There are various more distant matches which I've so far failed to link in.
I have accounts with Ancestry, FindMyPast and DNA on MyHeritage, FTDNA & Gedmatch
I also use DNA Painter (great)
Any suggestions very welcome!

DNA is not my area of expertise so hopefully someone else can help?
