Looking for James Murphy
« on: Sunday 10 October 21 16:10 BST (UK) »
I am looking for James Murphy  born Oct. 15,1910 England &  came to Canada as a Home Child in 1924,   His parents were James & Margaret Murphy.

When James arrived in Canada he went to  Mr   Viatique  Legault in St. Genivieve , Jacques Cartier, Quebec.  Then went to John Birt, Manotick, station,  Carleton, Ont. & then to  James Finley , Billings Bridge Carleton,  until 1928.   Don't know if he stayed in that area or moved on.

Any help or information would be much appreciated.

Thanks  Sharon

Have been looking to see if we could find James but so far drawn a blank for your James I'm afraid.
Hopefully someone will find something.  :-\

Thanks for getting back to me.
James had a brother Michael that was a home child too.  I was just wondering if they were able to find each other.

Michael  came to Canada in 1927   He was born in 1912

. I have his juvenile inspection reports.  T 15424  . Images 1959.1960,1961,& 1962
The last  entry was for 1940 & he was listed as being at 248 Jarvis St. Toronto,   In 1935 he was at Rockcliffe  Camp in Ottawa

On  one of  the inspection reports it  lists his second name as Anthony, haven't been able to confirm.

If there is anything else , just let me know.

Hmmm another blank - over 100 obituaries in Toronto for a Michael Murphy.  One with Anthony as a middle name but far to young.

Presume it couldn't be the barber because he was in Toronto in 1935 whereas your Michael was in Ottawa. What was Michael's occupation in 1935 and 1940 ?

Nothing listed in WW2 Canada Service Files for the dead - 1939 - 1947

I checked  the Toronto directories for 248 Jarvis st. for 1940,41,42, & 43 but didn't find him there.  He could have moved in after the info. was taken & moved out before the next one.

I don't know  where else to look.

Michael was most likely part of this camp program.  Started by looking for Rockcliffe Camp as part of the military base that existed there at one time and came across this article.
