Australia's dang family Laws!!!!!
« on: Wednesday 13 October 21 05:19 BST (UK) »
Hello to everyone.

I am p.....ed off with Aussie family laws!

I've done heaps of work on my and my hubby's family, but am at a standstill with his dad who passed away in 2000.
He was adopted, first hurdle!

Have found his unofficial adoption so his Birth Cert will be in that name.
Applied for the Birth Cert to be told that I cannot get it for 100 years after his birth.
Grrrr!   2nd hurdle!

2 years today to wait!

Sorry, just needed to vent.
After tracking it all down it is extremely frustrating.

Stay safe all,
Chris

Was the chap named on your hubby's birth cert?  If so, has your hubby applied for his Dad's birth cert explaining that he is seeking the details of his father's original birth registration, to advance his own medical history.   The Principal Registrar may have authority to consider such application.   There will likely be fees to pay.  Those fees will likely be more than the fee for the historic record that should become available when your father in law's birth cert becomes available to the general public.

Thanks for your reply JM.

On the unofficial document the mother is named, no father.

Baby was born in an unmarried mothers hospital and the adoptive father was also named, so they must have known one another.
More research to find the connection.

I think I will hang in there and aim at obtaining the BC in 2 years.

It just got to me today, exactly 98 years ago.

Thanks again,
Chris
