1939 Census occupation query

Hi
I'm trying to work out my my nan's occupation which I found on the 1939.
I can only read FountainPen ...... (looks a bit like groover)

There wasn't a census in 1939?
Are you perhaps referring to the 1939 National Register?

A census is a snapshot of 1 night; the 1939 Register was updated by the NHS until the 1990s ;D
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Apologies. Yes, I meant the 1939 Register (not census).

It looks like Fountain Pen Groover to me too.

Something to do with making the nibs??

Maybe the groove controlled the flow of ink from the tube to the nib. I've not found anything so far.  I recall the nibs were removable and there was a nib holder with a grove in it.
