Dumican's
« on: Tuesday 19 October 21 13:10 BST (UK) »
I have traced my ancestor Hugh Dumican ( Roman Catholic) to  Magheralin in 1790's. I cant find his parents or definitive d.o.b.
He joined the Military in 1808 and shows his birth as 1793.  I have him marrying in Isle of Man in 1816.
I am now at a standstill and would appreciate any info on how to progress further.

Too early for Magheralinn R.C. Parish records but worth checking to see how far back those in adjoining ones start-

Are you using a  wide variety of spellings in your searching?  Domican and Dommican i have found in NZ are present day spellings and might have recorded this way further back.

Thanks for your comments, yes I have found during my research approximately 20 different spelling ranging Dummigan, Domigan, Domican, even Dunizan, don't know where that came from.
I think that  because of the difficulty in Irish genealogy, I may have reached  my limit.
Having said that, thanks to a reply from Aghadowey above, I did find a document with a Charles Dumican in Drumnaconnor mentioned in 1770. Not got any more on that but nice to know there are other avenues to look for.
Thanks for your comments.
