This is an interesting story (the Milford elopement) - the Hull connection jumped out at me and on digging it's clear the girl is John's sister

https://newspapers.library.wales/view/4117347/4117350/11/

And an affray involving the parents - under "A carrier and his wife" in the second column

https://newspapers.library.wales/view/4117117/4117121/24/

Inquest into father's death. Another very short report notes he was known as Boscow Jenkins

JOhn snr seemed to have a few run ins with the law involving drunkenness, stray animals and horses and carts, and this one where John jnr gets a mention

On the online index for the archives there is a J Jenkins aged 32 from Milford Haven sailing on the trawler Somerville from Grimsby in 1911. Described as Deck hand on one record and Bosun on a further record Ref 208/5/56/301

That was a great find. I have found the the skipper of the Somerville was Alfred Britton from Hull. John H Jenkins sister, Elizabeth, was married to an Alfred Britton who lived in hull. Too much of a coincidence??? looks like I have some more digging to do.

Thanks again.

Another great find. The girl in the first story is definitely his sister. Not so sure about the other stories. At first site the dates don't seem to match but I will check them out properly.

Thank again.

IN 1891 John, Mary and children including Lettice are in Hill St. the news stories I've posted were generally about John Jenkins of Hill St, so quite possibly him

Here's another story with Lettice, which notes that the family are regularly in court. Confusingly it seems a sister married a chap called John Jenkins!

You will be able to get a lot of info from the records at North East Lincs Archives, if or when they`re open to the public.
I`ve a notebook of my father`s from when he was looking for someone, where he`s listed who the trawler belonged to  ( wrong grammar, but it`s late !! ) and I "think" who collected the wages . I`ll look tomorrow to see.

To continue ! It says Fishermens agreement with number. There are the names of the trawler and it`s number, which port it sailed from (in this case Grimsby) also with number; the name of the person who collected the wages, in  and also the trawlerman`s address.

It was quite a lot of years ago when my dad did this; I think it might have been from the original, but he hasn`t written it down.
