looking to find any records of Chick of Devon.
i have Ellen Mary Chick b 1862 st george road, petersport Guernsey, Channel Islands
she married George Stratford.
father William Chick somewhere in Devon about 1817 who married Elizabeth French.
we think Williams father was also a William b about 1789 Marldon.Devon possible father John Chick.

According to the Guernsey 1851 census, he was born in Thorncombe, Devon. However, Thorncombe is considered part of Dorset. https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DOR/Thorncombe. Ellen born 1862 appears with her mother Elizabeth who was bn c1840 on the 1871 census.  Are you sure that you have the right father as he would be a lot older than Ellens mother.  Do you have the marriage of William and Elizabeth

Is it the same Elizabeth French who is living in St Peter Port with William and Jane Chick in 1851 though census states she is 20

yes.thank you.that looks right about Elizabeth as she looks to have remarried to a John t Fletcher.

so to summarise William b 1823 in Thorncombe Devon ?.
Elizabeth 1820 Chadwick
John b  1844 Chard Somerset who later married Pinney.

No sorry dont have the marriage cert.
