Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment - 95th Battalion
« on: Sunday 24 October 21 16:00 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon

An ancestor of mine served in the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment from 1914 until he was discharged in 1918 injured. According to one genealogy website he served in the 95th battalion but I am struggling to find any information about it. I have looked on several websites but none mention 95th.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

All the records show his battalion as either 6 or 2/6

Hi

That probably explains why I am unable to find anything. I need to investigate further if it should be 9/5 or something similar.

Thank you.

The Medal Rolls for the West Riding Regiment clearly shows that he was in the '2/6 W. Rid. R.'
He was discharged on the 7 November 1918 under 'Para 392 (XVI)' [definition - 'No longer physically fit for war service']

Hi

Thank you.

I think losing an arm is fair to say physically unfit.
