Hello all,

I just wanted to check with GEDMatch: is it easy to have your DNA profile deleted from them if you upload it?

And do you need to have uploaded your family tree in order for it to show you matches?

Yes, click on the pencil (edit) icon to the right of your kit, select Kit Deletion from the tabs on the next page and follow the instructions.

You don't need to upload a Gedcom to see matches with your kit, but if you want to see where another kit could match yours, it's really helpful if that kit owner has an associated gedcom, as you can view their pedigree tree, run searches for common ancestor matching, etc. The same works in reverse if a match wants to investigate their connection with you, so uploading an associated gedcom increases the chances that your DNA kit might result in a useful match to you.
