Mary Elizabeth Evans' parentage

I am in a bit of a rut in terms of trying to uncover some more ancestry related to my great-grandmother and her parentage, or more specifically her mother's side. Her name was Mary Elizabeth Evans, and she was born in 1900, in Sengynedd, Glamorganshire, the daughter of William & Elizabeth. She was the 4th of their 7 siblings, born between 1890 & 1907. William & Elizabeth were both born in Aberdare, around 1867 & 1869 respectively. They married in 1889.
I am less concerned about finding out about William's parentage than I am about Elizabeth's. Her parents were not present on the marriage certificate, so I have no immediate way of finding out what her maiden name was. There is the possibility that Elizabeth's parents were David & Cathrine Lewis, both born in the 1830s; David in Pembrokeshire & Cathrine in Aberdare. This is part and parcel of my research on 'Ancestry', but I am at a loss as to where I can go further?

William & Elizabeth were both born in Aberdare, around 1867 & 1869 respectively. They married in 1889.

Mothers names are never shown on English or Welsh marriage certs.  You must have Elizabeth’s maiden name if you have the 1889 marriage cert?

That sounds like it's them! Yep, Mary's older siblings all seem to match with the ages of those here!
Looks like James is her mother's maiden surname. Be good to find out what her parentage was. It can only assume they have very deep Welsh roots.
Mary's younger siblings were called Geraint, Myfanwy & Marion, and she attended a Welsh-speaking non-conformist congregation before she met my great-grandfather, who went to an English-speaking one.

You could buy her birth certificate, and her parents marriage certificate, from the GRO using the details Rosie99 provided. That would be a good start.

Would it be possible to find information on Elizabeth James' parentage?

you need to buy a copy of the marriage cert from the GRO to get the name & occupation of Elizabeth's father. Without a father's name, it's just guesswork which of the Elizabeth James in the area is the one who married William Evans.
