Old Palace School Bombing WW2 - Trying to Trace the Families
« on: Thursday 28 October 21 20:16 BST (UK) »
For the past 5 years, I have been investigating the Old Palace School Bombing in East London during the Blitz in WW2.

34 Firefighters sadly lost their lives that night, in what is still today, the largest ever loss of life for the Fire Brigade, at a single incident, in its History. One of the 34 that sadly died that night was my Great Aunt, Winifred Alexandra Peters (nee Wootton).

My initial story and research can be found here.

Of the 34 Firefighters that died that night, 21 were from Beckenham.

I have now built a website dedicated to this tragic story and I am trying to trace the family members of all 34 firefighters and write their stories, to ensure that their memories live on and the sacrifices that they all gave is remembered.

If you can help in any way with details of any of the 34 firefighters and their families then please get in touch with me. Alternatively, if you can share the story so that I can try to reach as many of the families as possible, I would be extremely grateful.

The new website can be found here and some of the sad and harrowing stories can also be found here.
