George Langridge b circa 1790 d 1837 DNA links
« on: Sunday 31 October 21 12:36 GMT (UK) »
George Langridge who died in 1837, was buried in Edenbridge 29th June 1837 aged 49. Unfortunately just before the introduction of the GRO registration era, that might have contained some useful information.
Almost certainly he was married 9h April 1815 to Elizabeth HIDER/HIDDER/HILDER. Now believed to be Elizabeth FIELDER, who was probably bapt before her mother Sarah married William FIELDER in
Edenbridge 1795. George and Elizabeth thought to have had 8 children 1815 to 1835, the first child my ancestor Mary Ann who narried Edward JEFFERY in Edenbridge 24th March 1849. Her father described as a Labourer.
Elizabeth Langridge , George's wife ( widow)  was bequeathed £20  in 1839 by Thomas LANGRIDGE of Beckenham, who was buried in Edenbridge. Thomas was 85,  so born circa 1753 and it is likely that he was related to George ,
Probably an uncle.
At the moment it is unclear precisely who George' s parents were, and there are several baptism records that could be him circa 1788-1791.
We have DNA Links with quite a few people with Langridge families in this general area and era. I am looking to establish contact with Langridge researchers,  as some of the links to earlier postings by other researchers  regarding  Langridges in the home counties are broken.
This posting is aimed at re- establishing a current link, with researchers also using DNA results with proven Langridge ancestors.
This is an interesting journey, with recent research of the Derbyshire Langridges appearing to originate from Kent, and involved in coaches, with a similar trend in London for a coach related occupation in the early  to mid 1800's.
There are also a handful of Kent wills with Langridges appearing to be linked with the Family of the Thomas who died in 1839.
