David NICOLL - BARBADOS burial
« on: Thursday 04 November 21 12:02 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows how I could find out who a next of kin would be for a David Nicoll who was buried in Barbados in 1870. The burial record states he died onboard the Skiddaw and I presume buried in Barbados as it was closest place.

My ggg grandfather David Nicoll was from Scotland, died at sea approx 1870 and was in the merchant navy. I am trying to find a connection here.

Thank you,

Craig Borsch

Per the Register Of Wages And Effects Of Deceased Seamen he died in "Hospl Barbados" - presumably hospital - on 7 February 1870 of apoplexy and was "ex-Sylph".

Thank you Shaun,

Any idea what ex-Sylph could mean?

The "ex Sylph" bit is in the Remarks column. Presumably it refers to another ship but I've no idea what it means.
