His parents were Patrick and Annie
He was 1 of 14 children

Births less than 100 years old will not be available online. Does his death certificate give a date of birth?
"Ireland" is a large area- any idea of more exact location?
Was he the eldest child? were any others born in Ireland?
Any of the other children born in England? if so, should be possible to get mother's maiden name- https://www.freebmd.org.uk/search
Any idea when/where parents married?

There's a James N. Donnelly born 1932 with mother's maiden name Hayes-
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F1Q5-18C

May not be him but if birth was registered without middle name then will be more difficult to find.

Hi

Do you know James Donnelly had any older brothers or sisters, who might have been born pre 1920, ie outside the 100 year cut off date?

Regards

Probable date of birth now found (see reply #3) but you haven't answered questions I asked earlier (and which LH has also asked)-

Was one of your mother’s parents, his sibling? Unless he was an uncle through marriage, I suppose.

There are some published trees but they do not have James parents - one does name them but there are no supporting records.
I am posting these records just in case something rings a bell.
Marriage Patrick Donnelly and Annie Saberry
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1914/09856/5579459.pdf

Annie shows full age’ but if you look for a birth record she was born 1897.

There are these births :
Jane in 1914
Patrick in 1916
Annie in 1919

That marriage was in Derry - AND there was another one a year later between a Patrick Donnelly and an Annie Cecilia McGurk --- also in Derry.

Parents of the 1914 couple were Michael Donnelly and Edward McGurk.
Parents of the 1913 couple -- Michael Donnelly and James Saberry. Possibility here with a father James for Annie.

We are grasping at straws at the moment though.
