That marriage was in Derry - AND there was another one a year later between a Patrick Donnelly and an Annie Cecilia McGurk --- also in Derry.

Parents of the 1914 couple were Michael Donnelly and Edward McGurk.
Parents of the 1913 couple -- Michael Donnelly and James Saberry. Possibility here with a father James for Annie.

We are grasping at straws at the moment though.

You are right Pennines. I posted them because of the tree but of course that tree could just be a guess.
I am hoping that if ‘uncle James Norman’ is a sibling then other names would be known too.

WOW im flabberghasted at how much has been located already.  As i said before, all i know is his name, approx death date, one of 14 siblings and parents name Thought to be Annie and Patrick.

My Mums Aunty is Joyce Stevens and she married Donnelly so he is only related by marriage but recently got in touch with his estranged children who want to know more but they were small when contact stopped for whatever reason.

Not that it helps, but I think the Mary born to Patrick Donnelly and Annie Saberry on 31 May 1921 was actually Mary Josephine.

So there are 4 possible siblings up to 1921, if Patrick Donnelly and Annie Saberry are the correct parents. All born in Derry.

Patrick (unhelpfully!) was a Labourer. It would be good if he had a more unusual occupation which may have been quoted on James Norman's marriage certificate.

Do you have any idea when your James Norman moved to England?

I would tend to be thinking the 1914 marriage of Patrick Donnelly & Annie Saberry may be correct. Looking one step back to Births of Patrick & Annie, Patrick's parents Michael & Jane(Thompson), Annie's parents James & Anne you have (using variation on naming patterns) most of 1st 5 children's names. On Births Patrick & Annie come from 2nd District of Derry City. Kim
