I was hoping obit information would have given some clues but sadly not to be.

Massachusetts Passenger List 1893  shows a Mary A Corcoran aged 25 years arriving Boston Massachusetts on the Pavonia 21 February 1893.  Along with a Nora Corcoran aged 21 years.

and another Mary Corcoran born 1869  arriving on New York Passenger List the Germanic,  1 September 1893 - a servant going to Brooklyn New York.

There appears to be other options

Sadly these older passenger lists do not give nearest relatives left in Ireland or relatives they may be going to in the USA  :-\

Hello Kiltaglassan, and thank you for your help. Yes, something strange going on but I think you found part of the answer re: how the the recording of births was sometimes done. I don't know where the May 12 1870 date for Charles came from. I see a birthdate for him of Mar 1870 on the 1900 US Federal Census for Bronx, New York. A local County Carlow record shows his date of Baptism was 6 Nov 1870, so he must have been born before the Baptism date.

Likewise with Michael, born 9 May 1873, Baptised 11 May 1873, and reported in the civil record on
18 May 1873. If the church records for Baptism are accurate then Michael was probably born on
9 May 1873 and not 18 May.  Very confusing  :P

Thanks for the link to the civil register!

Kiltaglassan, I would post the snippets of the records I cited, but I haven't figured out how to downsize them yet.

Here is a link to the Baptism record for Charles on 6 Nov 1870

her death record said Mary Corcoran's mother's name was Anastasia, so you can throw these two into the mix.

Searched findmypast.ie baptism index for Mary Corcoran, mother Anastasia, bap 1868 +/- 2

found:
20 Nov 1868 Mullinavat Kilkenny, of Matthew and Anty Deady
registered 22 Nov 1868
might have had a brother Martin baptized 14 July 1864, Kilmakevoge, Kilkenny

18 Mar 1869 Fethard, Tipperary, of Patrick and Anty Connell

-------------
Then lots of baptism records are not around anymore, so  there could have been any number of other Marys baptized whose mothers names were Anastasia.

------------
From past experience, you really need something solid in the US records in order to id the person on the Irish records.
