Thomas M. JONES OR JARUS
« on: Saturday 13 November 21 05:54 GMT (UK) »
I have a name of direct ancestor  ..Margaret JONES, born 1817 Llanelli district, Carmarthenshire. Married John WIlkins(on) in Trevethin, Monmouthshire in 1834.  In 1891 England census, she was 75 yrs. and died at that address in 1895 aged 70yrs. She was staying in Wimbledon with a daughter, and her younger cousin Thomas M. Jones (I have presumed it was Jones but name now looks more like JAROS.) Haven't been able to find more re her family or his... he was an Auctioneer, Estate Agent etc. and a bit younger than cousin Margaret...he was 56 in 1891 census so born c.1835.in Llangandock (Llangadog), Carmenthenshire. Anybody help?

Can you please give the reference for the 1891 so we can find it?

What is the daughter’s name? Age? Place of birth

Presumably you have names for other children.

Is she Wilkins or Wilkinson in that 1891?

never mind. found them.

Although Thomas James is listed a widower in 1881 I think his wife and part of his family were living in Camberwell as below

Constance E. James    51  Married Independant  b Surrey Newington
William G. Brown    21 Solicitors Clerk
Charles M. James    14

This looks like their marriage 18 Oct 1865 Islington
Constantia Elizabeth Brown Widow - Father Charles Cooper Gent to Thomas Morgan Brown - Widower Auctioneer  Father William James -  Farmer

His first marriage seems to be in Long Benton, Northumberland in 1858 to Maria JAMES (eek)
her father Thomas JAMES
his father William JAMES

and that then accounts for

JAMES, THOMAS  WILLIAM     JAMES
GRO Reference: 1859  M Quarter in TYNEMOUTH  Volume 10B  Page 153

He became a solicitor

Not getting any closer to the relationship between the cousins though.

Marriage -  Llandenny, Monmouthshire, Wales

Catherinah JONES to Isaac COOPER (both widowed) 17 Nov 1832

So.... is Catherine/a.  Margaret JONES' mother?

(think Isaac buried 13 March 1838 age 65)
