You might want to reconsider Jane & Sarah on the 1911 census.

This is the David and Mary on the 1911 census.

DAVID GOUDIE   Married    MARY THOMSON   1883   Barrhill

1901 – Ballantrae – No others present.

DAVID GOUDIE 41, MARY GOUDIE 39

So who were all the Goudie’s with them in 1911.

JAMES GOUDIE   Married    BELLA MOANIE   1884   Ayr

1891 census Girvan – James Goudie not present.

ISABELLA 33, Marrion 5, John 3, Jane 1

1901 census Girvan – Goudie

JAMES 48, ISA 43, JOHN 13, JANE 11, ANNIE 8, ISA 6, JAMES 3

Although Isabella is in Girvan in 1911 with 3 of the children, it looks likely that James died there in 1906.

I do not think James or David were born in Ayrshire, it depends on their place of birth on the original census returns.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

On the 1911 census for David and Mary Goudie all of the children are registered as son’s and daughter’s, the children were born in Ayrshire and Wigtownshire

James and Bella are Sarah Monie Goudie’s grand parents. Yes James died in Girvan in 1906

On SP there are birth records for 2 girls named Sarah Goudie
1 in Ayr the one I am trying to trace and another in Kilmarnock who I assume is the child of David and Mary.

Checking the place of birth on the census for James - born Girvan and David - born Barrhill both in Ayrshire

Still searching
So far I have not found an entry on the 1911 census returns for either Sarah M Goudie or Helen Paterson.

Ayrshire-archives could not help with my enquiry
Clackmannanshire archives have given me school registration records for 1914-15 but unfortunately no matches

Could it be that children waiting to be adopted just became numbers.

I have found Sarah/Helen’s mother Jane on the 1911 census employed as a servant in Maryhill and think she emigrated to Canada in 1912.

Any help would be appreciated
