Dear Hillhurst
Today I found out that George was a “Mason” owning a company in Newcastle

Your records you sent are very interesting as I think my 5th great grandad Anthony Leaton
may have worked On the Gibside estate, as an Estate steward/agent and or house steward”
He was George’s son in law.
I have contact researchers at Gibside who are coming back to me to see if this is factual.
Watch this space.
Regards Jenny

Jenny - see my earlier post re the Irish Tontines Annuitants 1766-1789 record on FindMyPast.
Hopefully you have a FindMyPast sub -- or can take out a temp free trial? The record looks interesting, due to the person's name.

N.B

I have found a number of Blenkinsopp’s online on Find my past.
In the section for Freemasons.
They cover the whole world from New Zealand to South America, to Columbo.
If anyone needs to find a Freemason, they are great.

Chasing "your" Anthony Leaton, Whickam also throws up an Anthony Leaton, Witton Hall, B/Auckland.

There may be a link having spotted this in the Newcastle Journal, 6 Apr 1844 -
"Geo. Anthony Leaton Blenkinsopp, Esq, second son of Geo. Thomas Leaton Blenkinsopp of Hoppyland Park, Esq ..."
