Advice on 2019 Death
« on: Sunday 21 November 21 20:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Not looking for anyone to break laws copyright etc.

I'm trying to find out of my mother in law's sister is still alive.

Using the GRO site I have located a death in 2019 in West Sussex with the same first name and married surname and also the same year of birth.
The only difference is the person has a middle name and my mother in law's sister doesn't have a middle name that we are aware of.

What would a 2019 death Cert tell me?
Maiden name?
Date of Birth?

I'm a bit loathed to waste £11 on a cert that isn't her.

Any other way to locate if she is still alive or deceased ?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried an internet search with and without the middle name to see if an Obituary comes up, (or other info) for the sister to determine if there is more than one person with a similar profile in the same area.

Have you looked to see if the person who died in 2019 left a will, that might help clarify if it is the same person. You can purchase a will from here for £1.50

I am but it's a averagely common name. Narrowed it down with the words death, 2019 and the place.  Still a lot.

Only one and that shows Cardiff. I don't think she'd have a will.

Thanks least I'll know if they reported it correctly.

If you look at the websites of the local newspapers they usually have a searchable list of funeral notices going back a few years.
