Where in the World
« on: Thursday 25 November 21 12:31 GMT (UK) »
This is a snip from the RMLI papers of Charles Albert Goodwin, b. 4.1.1881 in Harwell.  In the list of places posted, I can read

Depot
Ports (presumably short for Portsmouth)
?
Hong Kong

Can anyone decipher what the ? reads, please?

Thanks

28 Feb ’01 Hd Qrs (= Head Quarters)

ADDED - it's not strictly a record of posting, but simply where he did his Musketry training in that particular year.

I did wonder about Head Quarters, but just wasn't sure.

Many thanks

Why would a Royal Marine be doing musketry training in Portugal in 1900? No British bases there.

"Ports" = Portsmouth is much more likely!
