The bake house must have been rebuilt after the fire in 1880? Presumaly on the same site? Unless the fire did not destroy it completely and it was repaired.

The thatched cottage could be a clue but might have been changed over the years, however there are some in the village.

Many thanks. I think if there was a person who made a living with baking it is very possible that baking continued on the site. Nothing guaranteed but a reasonable assumption and when I visit it will no doubt be the first place to look at. Thanks again for your help.  Mark

I had a quick look for Mr Mullett on the 1901 census but couldn’t see one living in a bake house in Tatworth. (Just hoping that one of the censuses might give clues as to the location.)

I can't see any references to an active bakery in Tatworth after 1882. There's an 1890 report of Charles Stevens "baker of Tatworth" but his bakery was at Chilson Common which I think is about a mile away. He was delivering bread in Tatworth when he was nabbed by the police (a superintendent!) for not having his scales with him.
