Burials in Bathgate?
« on: Monday 29 November 21 19:38 GMT (UK) »
My Gt Grandmother died in 1924 and was, I think, buried in Bathgate.  She died in Gourock at the home of her daughter and they took her all the way to Bathgate!  She was Jane Nisbet mn Lauder.  I was wondering if I could find out where, and also perhaps, if, her daughter who died in 1939 in Shotts was buried with her as I cannot find a burial for her either.   Her daughter was Marion Scott Jackson mn Nisbet.
As I live in England I would find it difficult to visit for the information, but, is there a website or booklet I could buy, to be able to find out?

linlithgow.lib@westlothian.gov.uk

Above is the email address of Linlithgow Library where family history records are kept, the best starting point might be to email them with your query, I have found them very helpful with providing information in the past :)

Thank you for the replies.  I will contact the Family History Society in the first instance.
I shall also contact the library.
Thank you once again.

Your welcome, good luck, I hope you find her.  Let me know if you do as I live near Bathgate and if you have enough info about where she is buried maybe I can find her grave.

I have the CDs from WLFHS. She is buried in the Johnston Section of Glasgow Road Cemetery. Name is given as Nisbit. There are no other burials in the grave. Glasgow Road Cemetery is in three parts Paulville the oldest lies to the south then Paulville (both are enclosed by walls) and to the west is the Extension which is the current cemetery. FindMyPast now hosts the transcriptions which are on the CDs. There are photographs of the headstones on BillionGraves (cemetery is referred to as Bathgate Cemetery) but there is no trace of one for Jane.

Thank you so much for the information.  I wonder where her daughter is buried.  I have searched in Lanarkshire, which is why I thought she may  have been buried with her mother, but it seems not!
Thank you all for your help
