Sarah Oliver (nee Ward) Death Search
« on: Saturday 04 December 21 15:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I've been searching for the wife's 2x Great Grandmother demise. Below is what I have got on her as a timeline and where I have looked.

Timeline:
1843 b.  Oxford, Oxfordshire as Sarah Ward.
1863 m. Oxford, Oxfordshire to Mark Oliver
1871 Census: living in Carlisle Court, Lambeth, Surrey.
1881 Census: living in Carlisle Court, Lambeth, Surrey.
1891 Census: living in Bird Street, Lambeth, Surrey.

Searches:
Cannot find her on 1901 census.
Searched FreeBMD between Mar 1891 to Dec 1901
Searched GRO from 1891 to 1901
Ancestry, FindMyPast, FreeReg, FamilySearch - all nothing

On FreeBMD I've located a potential that could be her.
Deaths Jun 1897
Oliver    Sarah Ann    43    Lambeth    1d   220

  • Age is close.
  • Area is right.
Thoughts?

Can anyone locate her on the 1901 in case I missed her?
Is anyone able to confirm that the 1897 death is her the widow of Mark Oliver?

Thanks for any help.

1891 has a Sarah Oliver - single age 37 bn Godalming, Surrey in Lambeth RD that would match that death age but she is still in Lambeth in 1901  :)

Did your Sarah have a middle name on her baptism / marriage

I see that your Sarah has son Arthur with her in 1891, there is a Sarah Oliver with son Arthur in 1901 census but gives place of birth as London.

RG13 piece 228 folio 138 p55 Stamford Road, Hackney

ADDED I think that one is in Islington in 1901 so maybe ignore

Thanks so the one in 1891 is NOT the wife's Sarah Oliver as she was born in Oxford.

I'll have a look between 1881 and 1891 instead

If she was born 1843 the 1897 death age wasn't close.  She would have been 54 not 43.  1891 she is 48

Could she have remarried?

Long shot (very long)

Your Sarah was living in the Lambeth RD in 1891 but there is a Sarah Oliver death in 1892 in the Pancras RD - aged 47 instead of 49.  I have checked the 1891 for an entry b 1845 +- 2yrs  living in the Pancras RD but can't find one.

That's what makes me think she died prior to 1891.

Thanks Carole

How could she have died before 1891 when she is on the 1891 census with son Arthur?
