As the sisters embarked at London, could they have been working in England at the time?
As explained in the other link I included (Codford and Hornchurch) --

"After major battles the sheer volumes of wounded men often meant those requiring transfer out of France went to hospitals in London and Birmingham in particular before being transferred to the NZ General hospitals. Prior to the NZ Division taking the field in France, New Zealand wounded and sick who were moved from either Egypt or Malta went (ideally) to Walton on Thames, but due to numbers arriving, London hospitals were also used".

In my great grandfather's military records, it shows that he was at 3 hospitals located in England after being wounded - Brockenhurst General Hospital, Hornchurch Convalescent Hospital, and finally, Codford Convalescent Hospital.  So the likelihood was that they did meet in England.  However, he did disembark at Glasgow when he first left Wellington in New Zealand, but doubt he was there long enough to meet his future wife.

Just in case you haven't come across this, a brief bio on Nancy's brother John www.universitystory.gla.ac.uk/ww1-biography/?id=990  Certainly an academic family  ;)

Unfortunately I have been unable to find any trace of Nancy Dorothy Hodge as a Nurse in any of these records, although I noticed that she, along with her sister Frances, were recorded as being Nurses on a Passenger List.
