Bertha Perrell Marriage

Just wondered if someone could have a look for a marriage, for Bertha Perrell, born 1879, I think in Swanwick, Derbyshire....I have her marrying a George H Chamberlain in Nottingham, but not sure if this is correct......also did they have any children ?.....as usual there are
 several trees on Ancestry that I think are wrong.....Many Thanks.

You are correct, Bertha married George Chamberlain in 1897 in Nottingham.

Have you created a free FamilySearch account? It is easy to search; I found their marriage just by inserting the name 'Bertha Perrell' into the search box. Here is the record:

It is also easy to find the children by creating a free account and searching the GRO (General Register Office) index.

By adding the name 'Chamberlain' into the 'Surname at Birth' box and 'Perrell' into the 'Mother's Maiden Surname' box, you can search through the years after their marriage and find all their children. It appears they had several, including Doris and Harry, who appear with them on the 1911 census, which can also be viewed on FamilySearch:

Bertha also had an illegitimate son called Frederick Arthur in 1896. By 1911, he had taken the name of his stepfather.

Thanks for that......I think what's confusing me, is that there seems to be two, if not three Frederick Arthur's.......

You can look for her on the 1881 & 1891 censuses to determine her parentage & birthplace

The marriage cert will confirm her fathers name for comparison

Look for her under Chamberlain on the 1901 & 1911 censuses to compare birthplace & birthyear

Thank you, I have her birth, and her parents, it's her marriage and children that I was stuck on......still not sure who son Frederick Arthur was married to though......I have one Frederick Arthur possibly married to an Ethel Hodgikinson, at Nottingham in 1910, but he was born in 1896, so would only be aged 14, .....there is another Frederick Arthur born 1868, possibly married a Julia Blanche Hitt also at Nottingham.....he can't be Bertha's son as she wasn't born until 1879.....all very confusing !!

Joined the Royal Navy you can see his file on the National Archives and download for free as long as you sign in to create an account. (free at the moment due to covid) I went through ancestry so I didn't have to search.

Entry date 12-5-1915 - (12 May 1915)
he was discharged 17 October 1923 - at Port of Boston Linc

Parents George and Bertha Chamberlain. He was 5' 4 " with brown eyes, fresh complexion
He was an Engineman
