Rate books
« on: Tuesday 14 December 21 21:47 GMT (UK) »
dear all,

I read that that 'Rate books' are yearly records of the occupiers and owners of properties. Interesting  :D
My question(s) to experienced researchers are:
i. are there 'Rate books' available for Sudbury and what information do they reveal?
ii. are these 'Rate books' available to view (or is it a visit to Bury R.O.)?
iii. which period of time or years do these 'Rate books" cover? (Do they exist before 1841?)
All information gratefully received and I believe of interest to many other lesser experienced researchers  ;)
Seasons greetings  ;D
Pete
