I have been searching for James McLeod b. 29 Nov 1847, Kenneth b. 5 Mar 1850, and Donald b. 4 Nov 1851 plus the dad Donald McLeod, a sailor, born 1825 or 1826. Mother Martha Hossack died 2 March 1857. The family were living with the grandmother Catherine Hossack (nee Hogg). The grandmother died 21 Feb 1857. There is one baptized Donald McLeod born in Cromarty in 1823 and he was a baker and died in Rosskeen.
Is it likely the entire family was whiped out in 1857 or can anyone find this family? I did happen to have downloaded the Ancestry 1851 census which shows Donald 25, James 3, Kenneth 1, and confuses Martha. However, this did not resolve birth location of Donald snr. I think it unlikely he is from Stornoway.
