An application for a licence was successful at Spilsby Licensing Sessions, Feb 1954, seventeen years since it last opened.

Thank you for finding this -- I wonder if a family member applied for the licence in 1954. Isaac was still alive at this stage, he would have been 72 years of age, it even could have been him.

Skegness Standard, 14 Mar 1945
Supt. A Harvey objected to the renewal of the following five licenses on the grounds of redundancy - ...; Black Horse, Thorpe St. Peter; ...
With regard to the Black Horse, Thorpe St Peter, Inspector Milbourn said the licensee and owner was Mr Isaac Carey. It was fully licensed for six days a week, and was last open as an inn on Sept 30th, 1936. It was a free house. The licensee was a small holder with 16 acres attached to the premises. He informed him that he had closed the house owing to the illness of his wife.

Just to add, in 1905 Kelly's Lincolnshire directory Isaac Carey was in Black Horse public house.
