Jackson and Elwall in Sedgley and Bilston

Thomas Jackson born 1708 in sedgley died 1772 Ettingshall ma Rebecca Elwall 28/11/1726 in West Brom, his father was Ellwall Jackson born 1735 in Sedgley but cannot find his father as cannot find Sedgley records for that period, I have 1558-1685 and 1781-1831 any ideas where I can find the missing yrs

I previously gave you a link to Genuki suggesting that there were probably no records for Sedgley prior to 1558.  This article mentions that Parish registers did not start until 1538 so you will not find a baptism before then

Have you looked in the familysearch catalogue to see what they have available for Sedgley

I have just tried baptisms for Sedgley on F M P and Ancestry for that middle period you are looking for and it appears to be mostly covered by transcripts from familysearch showing on both sites.  You may have to view a film at a family history centre if you want to view the originals

Earliest Jackson baptism on freereg happens to be: Julian/Gregorian Calendars.

Tho JACKSON   Baptism   10 Feb 1706/7   Staffordshire   Sedgley : All Saints : Parish Register
Parents John a Labourer & Anne, abode Over Gornall (Presume upper Gornal now)

The earliest Jackson marriage on freereg Sedgley is 1748 & burials 1709.

Thomas and Rebecca had an earlier son of the same name at Sedgley : All Saints

Elwall JACKSON   Baptism   06 Sep 1731

He was buried 30 May 1735, both parents noted Thomas was a Nailer, abode Ettingshall, the same as the baptism below.

The one you mention was baptised 15 Feb 1736 on the Gregorian Calendar.

Thanks that is usefull I have Elwall Jackson Bap Feb 1736, I have transcripts for All Saints Sedgley for all but 1685-1831 which is a nuisance but we soldier on...
