Lavinia's daughter Mary Ann Redfern married James Locker in 1869. However they're both still alive in 1891, with no Charles with them

There's also a marriage in 1887 in Cheadle of William Leese and Mary Locker. The children with them in 1891 are indexed as Leese but appear to have been born as Locker with mmn Redfern. Including Charles aged 5

1881 - fenton

Mary Locker    27 - married
Ellen Locker    7
William H. Locker    4
Maria Brian    25 - sister, married
Arthur Brian    5 - nephew
James Pattison    32 - boarder
William Leese    22 - boarder

RG11; 2730;  20; 33;

The only Locker - Redfern marriage popping up is that of James and Mary Ann. However Lavinia's daughter is too yuong to be this one

Bit confusing which one James Locker married

I think I've found a photo of Charles Leese born 1886 on ancestry.  What's the locker connection?

More research is needed, but the general thinking is that Charles birth was registered with surname Locker in 1886, and that at some point his mother “ links up with a Mr Leese” and Charles then adopts the Leese surname, as per the 1911 census entry of Charles Locker Leese, his birth certificate could answer quite a few questions.
