Mystery wedding photo for dating please, Dad as best Man.
« on: Sunday 26 December 21 14:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi friends,

Would love to have this photo dated, please.  I have no idea who the happy couple are, and I don't think that they are my relatives. I am interested in it though as my dad is best man and I am intrigued as to how old he is here.

If anyone is  bored 😯 and would like to clean and/or colour it, please feel free.

Merry Christmas 🎅 and thanks for looking

Judy  ;)
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Hello Judy  :)

I'd say early to mid-1950s

Thank you very much, Gadget.  That would make my dad in his mid thirties.
Best wishes, Judy :-))

I've just noticed the shoes on the bridesmaid on the right. I had identical shoes when I was a bridesmaid in 1952-3, so did my older sister.

Your father looks younger than mid-30s though

Most of the wedding photod that I have of the 1940s are where the groom is in uniform. I've got two with stripped suits - 1943 and 1950.  Given your father's d of b. I'd say closer to 1943 but .  :-\

Sorry not to be more help. Carol might have a better idea.

Here's a version of the pic. I took the masonry (or foliage)  from above your father's head as it made him look as if he was wearing a head dress.

add - and a black and white.

  :D :D :D

Thanks Gadget! I hadn't  noticed that😊

Thanks so much too for spending your time on it.  You have made a lovely job of it.  It looks much better.  I hadn't  thought about uniforms before - though the groom doesn't  look as if he is the first flush of youth!  Maybe too old for the army??  Just a thought.
