Dalbeth Cemetry - Section 9 is it still there?
« on: Monday 27 December 21 09:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi There,

First time poster and looking for some help. I have found a burial record for ancestors that were buried in a lair in Dalbeth. The section is number 9, plot 301. I was in Dalbeth yesterday taking flowers as I have other family there and I hunted for section 9 to no avail. I've looked at the maps online which don't have a 9. I even went up into the St Peters side and there was no section 9 there. I could only find upto 8. Does anyone know where this area is? Is it still there? The last interment went in 1882 but I was hoping to locate it as its the last time in 150 years my ancestors could afford a lair, the majoriry of the rest are in common ground at Dalbeth

Thanks
Mon

Blantyre Disaster (RC miners) 22.10.1877 Dalbeth Cemetery, London Road, Glasgow (buried north west corner Section 9 in 11 lairs)

Not sure if this will be helpful to you in locating Section 9.

It is also mentioned here https://www.goindustrial.co.uk/our-blog/blog-post/mining-memorials-in-scotland

Welcome to RootsChat, Mon  :)

Can I suggest you contact Sharon Scullion. She has been so helpful to others with a whole range of queries about the cemetery:
