RTL you are a star, especially given that you work such long hours .

Given the date I looked again at the newspapers (the OCR problems means it hadn't come up in a search)

Very faded but there was a death notice:

Newcastle Evening Chronicle 17 Aug 1917
page 2 col 1

CAIN - Wallsend, the residence of her son-in-law, Walter Bell, 9, Rawden Road,
16th inst., Mary Ann (Polly) wife of the late Patrick Cain. Interment Wallsend, Saturday; lift 2.45.
All friends and neighbours kindly invited. R.I.P.

and an In Memoriam notice the following year (even more faded and fuzzy)
Newcastle Evening Chronicle 16 Aug 1918
page 2 col 2

Cain- In loving memory of our dear mother, Mary Cain, died 16 Aug 1917, Wallsend.
Ever remembered by her loving family.

Boo

Well done RTL, I was thinking that she might be in Church Bank.

You’ve got this death down as being for someone born in 1884
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/GQ3R-JG9

But as Carole has pointed out she was 54 when she died in 1917, so born c. 1863

Hi JenB, yes you are correct, I do actually believe it's the said Mary Ann Cains Mother Mary Ann Cain nee Pearson

It just needs attached to the correct person. Which has now been corrected.

I think you need to re-assess this. This burial is of Mary Ann, the wife of Patrick, but according to another of your threads on the Cain family the Mary Ann Cain you are talking about (i.e. nee Pearson) was the wife of William Cain.

Yes Holy Cross or Church Bank. They have roman catholics. North Tyneside Council Bereavement Services will be able to tell you. You can email them, expect a couple of weeks to hear back. I don't think that church has a graveyard. Local catholics tend to go to  Holy Cross or Church Bank.

I was at the archives today and came across this in the Tynemouth workhouse register and thought the surname and address looked familiar.
Might as well add this to this thread, even though Lisa has made no acknowledgment
to the previous look up I did when she came back online. :-\
Might be useful for someone following these ancestors ..

Thanks Jen, I didn't look for last item I just came across it and it seemed a shame to waste the find.  I agree perhaps above the call of duty in the circumstances, when the OP seems to have lost interest. However, it still might of use to someone interested in these ancestors.
