Not got anywhere yet with your Edith Mary Johnson, born 1871
This is a long shot possible for Sarah Johnson born 1879, last seen on the 1891 census though, I'd searched the 1901 census for Sarah, born 1879 +/- 2 years, birthplace North Shields.

There is a 'possible' marriage for a
Sarah Johnson and Thomas Coleman Q2 1898, Sunderland District, 10a 977
Marriage Locator does not give any info for this ref. so no chance of looking it up in a parish register at an archives. Sunderland Registrars may help with a short, specific enquiry, and it helps them if you quote their local reference (rather than the combined GRO ref)
Sunderland Registrars site has a search facility, start here:
https://www.sunderland.gov.uk/article/12356/Request-copies-of-birth-death-and-marriage-certificates#cookie-consents-updatedchoose to proceed and confirm the event was in Sunderland District
On the next page click to add the cert
and then you finally get to the search screen (this does not commit you to a purchase, but will give you the local registrars ref.
Specify Marriages, 1891 - 1900
Surname Coleman, Forename Thomas and hit the search button
Only 1 result, click on the Plus sign at the end of the line and it confirms he married a Sarah Johnson
Note the Index number and close the page down.
Now email the registrars at the address on this page (
NB type the full address into the mail as if you click on it, it will go to the Darlington Registrars - lord alone knows why)
https://www.sunderland.gov.uk/copy-certificatesGive them the index number and bride and groom names and ask if they have the time to check to confirm/deny if the bride's father was Peter Johnson, a seaman, (who was deceased by the time of this marriage).
They aren't allowed to 'give' any info but usually will check the information you send and tell you if its a match for the register entry.
If they say yes, then you'd need to get the cert to be more sure that its the right Sarah - witnesses may give further clues, but if they say its not a match then at least discounting this one is a baby step forward.
