Can anybody find what happened to Lydia after 1851?
Lydia Dove was born in Winterborne Kingston, Dorset in 1801, being baptised there with her twin, Catherine, on the 24th May, daughter of Michael Dove and his wife, Mary Stroud.
She married George Thorn (e) in Shalfleet, Hampshire on the 8th April 1820.
A daughter, Charlotte, was baptised on the 12th November 1820, indicating that Lydia was pregnant when she married, and her birth was followed by those of; Henry, baptised on the 18th August 1822, Mary, baptised on the 20th June 1824, Michael, baptised on the 26th November 1826, George, baptised on the 8th March 1829, John, baptised on the 15th May 1831, Isaac, baptised on the 4th August 1833, Edward, baptised on the 1st November 1835, William, baptised on the 15th October 1837, and Maria, baptised on the 20th October 1839.
The 1841 census finds the family living in Pigstill, Shalfleet, with seven of their nine children; George was employed as an agricultural labourer.
George died in Shalfleet in March 1842; he was buried there on the 12th March.
By 1851, Lydia can be found with three of her children, Michael, William and Maria, still living in ‘Pigstill’ where she was described as an ‘occupier of land – 12 acres’, whilst both of her sons, were employed, on her land, as agricultural labourers.
After that...I can't find a trace!
