After avin a reload at previous family research I’ve realised I’ve had womens surnames wrong at times!
Can anyway be good enough to check for a surname to Elizabeth who married
James Clarke Moreton in Marsh 1860-1865
Also for his Father William Clarke Moreton in Marsh to Sarah Archard ws she really an Archer or Archard?? Many thanks

I can't see any James Clarke marriages to an Elizabeth in Glos between 1860-1865 using Free BMD.

Can you be any more specific to the year    were they single or married on the 1861 census?

Have you checked birth registrations of any children born to see mothers maiden name?

William Clark (no e) married Sarah Archer in 1829.

There is this marriage in Oxfordshire 1865

James Clark (no e) to Elizabeth Mason

James is a groom and there is a James age 20 from Moreton in Marsh who is a groom in 1861

father William also a groom - does that fit?

1861 has William 62 & Sarah 51 in Moreton in Marsh
with children John 12, Mary A 9 & Rose H(annah) 6. - William is an Ag Lab

1841 same address James is age 8 months (so born 1840)

From Memory I think your right with William he married Sarah Archer Archard etc she was I think from Fifield
James I thought married Elizabeth James from Kingham?
All my previous research is all out of place as like an idiot I’d had Wiiliam and James wife’s round wrong way !😩if Williams Wife is right I now need to start again and try trace Sarah’s family
As for James if his wife is A James or Mason I’ll have to retrace their lines, Her surname James definitely rings true on memory? as does her birthplace of Kingham by Chipping Norton I also heard there was a James family from nearby Churchill? But iike I ay I may well be barkin up wrong tree again😮😁! 👍

Her married surname is James.  Her maiden name was Mason. 

Daughter Frances Annie born Mar 1870 Chipping Norton has mothers maiden name Nason - GRO birth index refers. 

Note the family are now Clarke with an e. 

1871 Chipping Norton

James Clarke 28 groom domestic servant born Moreton
Elizabeth Clarke 25 born Kingham
Frances A Clarke 1 born Chipping Norton

Rosina born Mar 1872 Chipping Norton - mothers name Mason
Louisa born Dec 1874 the same
Emily Elizabeth born Dec 1876 the same
