Goppa Cottage, Duffryn, Rhydyfelin, Pontypridd
« on: Saturday 01 January 22 13:30 GMT (UK) »
Please will you look up the electoral registers/rolls for the above address for 1962 or there about. I have tried with no result.
My reason for asking, my great uncle made a model of a canal barge which is on display at Swansea Maritime Museum. The curator has informed another cousin that it was donated by his daughter in law a Mrs Richard Williams Junior, widow who lived at this address in 1962. I have on my tree she died ten years before.
Finding out the occupant of this address at this time will see whether my research is correct or not.

Thank you and Happy New Year to all
Suzanne

Thank you very much.    So it seems that I have either the wrong wife, mine is Emma Williams, or there are two Richard Thomas Williams living in Rhydyfelin at the same time, not surprising with Williams as a surname  :)
I have found a probate of a Richard Thomas Williams who died 1955 and lived in Chapel Street, Rhydyfelin wife Amy.

Has Emma slightly changed her name to Amy?   or two separate households?  :-\

Any advice would be very welcome

    Thanks Suzanne

Looking at the electoral register for Chapel Street (that included Goppa Cottage) for 1953 (so before the probate you have), the only other Williams family is a Trevor G Williams and Ruth living next door at 14 Chapel Street

Hi Suzanne
I'm assuming Richard Thomas Williams is married to Emma as I can see them at Goppa Cottage in 1939
Who was the Richard I (or T) Williams Jnr, and who did he marry?

  Thanks so much  :)

Looks as if my mistake is hinged on a marriage certificate of a Richard Thomas Williams marrying an Emma Williams in Eglwysilan in 1908.
Both R T Willams born 1883, both were Colliers, both had Richard as a father but one married an Emma the other an Amy, both had a son called Richard Ivor Williams and a daughter Mary.

Have now to find that marriage of R T Williams and Amy.

Richard Ivor Williams, no wife at the moment but his middle name is a nod to Emma Williams Father Ifor Williams who lived in Treforest Pontypridd.   An RTWilliams father Richard lived two doors away from Ifor Williams Emma's father in 1901.
  So the plot thickens

Just to add, in case it helps
Selwyn M Tamplin is actually Selwyn M Pamplin, born Ponty in 1923. He marries Nancy Williams in Ponty in 1945. She is the daughter of Richard and Emma Williams as she is with them living at Goppa Cottage in 1939 along with sister Mary.
