Wincanton Bishops Transcripts
« on: Sunday 02 January 22 00:41 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Would anyone have access to the BT's for this parish before 1636 (when the PR's begin)?

I am stuck with working out family relationships and need to look back further. Online information tells me the BT's begin 1593 (with gaps).

My family is Day and I'm looking for any mention of them, particularly Edward.

Thank you,

Kells.

I note that there are some bmd records on freereg but sadly no DAY, I keyed in John and got 66 results starting at 1593 and there were 7 Edwards.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

familysearch.org have 2 films of the BTs.
One, 1629 - 1672, is viewable from home if you're logged in. This has a 'search' facility next to the camera icon. A few 'Days' come up. No Edward.
The other 1593 - 1871 is locked and only viewable at an LDS library. It does say the film has many missing or illegible parts.

Thank you both.

I had tried Familysearch and found the BT's were only viewable at a research centre. I couldn't get results from that period in a general search.

I will take a look at FreeReg also. I have been through the entire set available on Ancestry and still have gaps. I think it may be difficult to find them.

Thanks again.

If it's of any interest, this publication can be accessed online via Google books:
