A Joseph Edward Hepple was chr. at Stamfordham NBL 31 Aug 1815 son of William and Elizabeth, according to familysearch.org. He married Isabella Slater 1850 at Monkwearmouth

This would appear to be his burial/ headstone

William Hepple married an Elizabeth Hepple ! in 1803 he was. gentleman/ farmer. Here is a ref to the marriage and licence

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DZ89-CZH?i=485&wc=MLVD-L2C%3A165410601%2C165410602%2C165412401&cc=1840743

courant refers to the Newcastle paper.

William did not leave a will but theres an Admon Bond

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-67X9-M27?i=8&cc=2353049

However Elizabeth made a will

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-67N7-Y1K?i=260&cc=2365059

so no Robsons in that generation or they could be on the Slater side - you may have to dig deeper.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the bond and will. Hepple was a retired farmer when he lived in Sunderland and was presumably fairly prosperous as he lived in a smart Victorian terrace which still stands today, so his father's description as gentleman /farmer fits.
